In Between
Developed as Ronny Hunger’s Master’s degree project, In Between combines text and book design in a self-reflective investigation into the notion of the independent communication designer. Across six chapters, the publication examines the designer’s responsibility in shaping social and political content, connecting fragments and creating forms of communication that actively involve audiences and encourage critical reflection. The physical design translates this position into a distinct material and narrative structure: a dust jacket made from sandpaper gives the book an abrasive, tactile exterior, while sequences of colour film stills frame the publication at its beginning and end. In between, a restrained black-and-white typographic layout provides a focused space for the text, quotations and references.
